The water supply in the Moshav Tzofar area suffers from a shortage of suitable water storage facilities, so that during peak consumption, the wells that supply the water work continuously, and the hourly consumption is limited by the production capacity. As part of the master plan for the middle Arava it was proposed to construct a reservoir and a pump station in the Tzofar area. Ecolog designed the Tzofar reservoir for “Mekorot” company, including a pumping station on top of the reservoir Embankment. The construction of the station was done in a few phases: during the first phase, two pumping units with an output of 600 m3/h x 60 meters (lift), and preparation for another 4 pumping units with the same output to be installed during a latter second phase. The design includes hydraulic analysis for the integration of the reservoir and the pump station into the existing and planned water system, electromechanical design, civil engineering, water treatment, electricity and control systems.
